The practice of positive thinking can give us many life changing experiences. Find out more…
Positive thoughts and negative thoughts coexist in our mind. When we decide to keep the positive thoughts and negate the negative thoughts, we are stepping into the habit of positive thinking. Every individual has his or her own discovery in the journey of positive thinking. It teaches us numerous valuable life lessons. At a personal level, I have observed its real transformative impact on my day-to-day life.
Reflecting upon 10 big benefits of positive thinking which I have discovered so far.
Fear Goes Down
Negative thoughts bring a lot of anxiety and fear. Positive thinking cleanses each one of them. We have a natural tendency to see a major danger or failure first in everything. Positive thinking breaks this unhealthy thought pattern. It steers our thoughts only towards favourable outcomes.
Mental Strength Goes Up
Positive thinking gives a lot of inner strength. It teaches how to bounce back after every fall. I do not spend a single minute blaming myself or anyone else for the setback. Blame game does not change the end result. It produces plenty of negative energy which in turn drains out emotional strength. A rational approach is to identify where I was at fault, learn from those mistakes and move on.
Pushes Away Sadness Faster
Sadness comes in life. We cannot stop that. Positive thinking ensures that I don’t dwell in the state of sadness for a long time. I accept it as an unexpected change that I did not see coming. Hence, I feel so shattered. The next big step is to rewrite a new chapter in life despite the sadness.
Optimism is on the Rise
I stay optimistic even when I have numerous challenges all around me. We often lose hope because of thoughts like “What if this plan does not work out”. Now, when this kind of pessimistic thoughts hit me, I rephrase it into “This plan will work for me.” It keeps the flame of optimism intact for a long time.
Eliminates Anger and Frustration
I don’t allow anger and frustration to rule my mind anymore. I am now much more alert than before so that anger does not find a place in my system. If somehow it makes an entry, I make sure it is thrown out at the earliest. Frustration fades out on its own because there is a deeper sense of contentment within.
Stress is Under Control
My mental stress level is under control while facing challenges. It’s such a big relief! Earlier, I was bad at tackling life’s turbulences. I used to feel like a bundle of nerves. Now, I can keep my calm and deal with stressors quite well. Positive self-talk standing in front of a mirror was the game-changer. Anxious thoughts magnify our flaws and past mistakes. An internal dialogue with core self “I can navigate through these uncertain times’ builds strong, healthy mental outlook. It leads to stress reduction.
Minimum Mood Swings
I don’t get trapped into rapid ups and downs of mood swings easily. There is a significant improvement in my overall coping skills. I make conscious effort and try not to be hyperactive in the middle of chaotic situations. My head gives out instructions not to react and step away from unnecessary chaos. It is just a temporary phase and will pass soon.
Positive Behavior Towards Others
My behavior with people has changed for the better. I am more compassionate towards others. I have a strong belief that every person who touches my life has made a positive contribution in one way or the other. My personal relationships thus stand stronger than ever before.
Better Problem-Solving Ability
My problem-solving ability has improved manifolds. It’s possible as I don’t think about the negative outcome of a problem anymore. I conduct a holistic analysis of problems. Segregate what are things which are under my control and which are beyond my control. No regret for what is not in my hands. Just cut them out. The prime focus is on possible actionable steps which can bring quick, effective solutions.
Higher Level of Self-Confidence
I am not under any such assumption that negativity will not touch my life just because I practice positive thinking. I don’t live in a fool’s paradise. What I know is that hurdles will keep coming but I am confident enough to overcome all of them.
PARTING NOTE: Positive thinking is a habit which develops with time. You can’t expect its positive impact on your life within a fortnight.
